The Andorra-La Seu airport has broken records in terms of passengers this summer, even surpassing the figures of the winter season when the number of visitors tends to be higher. With more than a thousand passengers a month, the Aeroports de Catalonia aviation company recognizes that it has exceeded its expectations.
The Andorra-La Seu airport has also provided positive feedback of the first six months of the Andorra-Madrid route, which has recorded an average occupancy of 52% until June. This, added to the future improvements of the airport and the demand of the business sector, which sees the Andorran economic and financial model as a business opportunity, will make it possible to increase the number of flights per week to the Spanish capital.
Regarding the works to improve the operability of the airport, currently and until December, work is being done on the ground lighting that will allow the operating hours of the infrastructure to be extended at night, especially in the winter, and thus provide a response to the demands of the airlines that operate in the airport. The director of the airport, Óscar Madrid, has recently confirmed that the works are following the scheduled deadlines.
Finally, in the meeting held at the end of July between the head of the Andorran Government, Xavier Espot and the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, the possibility of occasional presence of the police force at the airport of Andorra-La Seu was discussed for flights arriving from outside the Schengen area.
The process to modernize the infrastructure network and connections continues, making Andorra an attractive destination for investors, companies, new residents and tourists.
